Coastline to Canyon: A Mosaic Wall Project for Glenneyre Avenue
The public is invited to Festival of Mosaics, a hands-on art program taking place in Laguna Beach in Fall 2018. The program offers three activities: color picking tiles, tile glazing workshops and hands-on installation of the tiles, resulting in a permanent public mosaic style mural. Families, artists, and beginners are all invited!
The mural, designed by Mike Tauber, will beautify the wall fronting Glenneyre Avenue at Neighborhood Congregational Church. The work, titled Coastline to Canyon, is an abstract design featuring pixellated tones in a sweeping color bleed. It reads like an arial view of Laguna Beach, from the blue ocean, to tidepools, shoreline, bluffs and greenbelt beyond. Tiny wildlife silhouettes, as painted in the workshops, may be discovered at close inspection of the mural.
